Dear Brothers and Sisters,

I hope you’re planning on joining us for the weekend of Oct. 5-7 – we’ve got a great weekend of faith, food and family fun. It begins with our parish mini-retreat that will open the Year of Faith on Friday evening, continuing through Saturday and ending with a great celebration at the 4:30pm Mass. Please visit our parish website for information and to let us know you’re coming. The weekend continues on Sunday with our Annual Fall Festival and Turkey Dinner. This great fundraiser for our school includes games, rides, the Fall Harvest Store and a wonderful homemade turkey dinner, prepared by our own Family Dinner Night team, together with additional parish volunteers. Please join us for this great weekend! Our parish family won’t be the same if you’re not there!
On a very practical note, we’re getting ready to replace the roof on the church in the next week or two. I’ve mentioned to you in the past that we’ve known we would need to replace it soon, since the current metal roof is showing great wear and has some serious issues in spots. The new roof will be a more common asphalt shingle roof whose color will match that of the Parish Center roof and should last longer than the metal roof we are replacing. I’m very happy that we’re able to undertake this project before we head into the winter months and the coming bad weather – I would hate for us to have deal with any damage inside the church because of a roof failure during the winter months. The cost of the new roof is expected to be about $76,000. The good news is that we have the money set aside already and that we are exactly where we wanted to be a couple of years ago: to be able to handle a major maintenance project not as an emergency, where we suddenly needed to scramble and raise additional funds, but to have planned well for it and through the generosity of our parish family already have the money we need. Thank you for making this project possible! Have a blessed Sunday!
